Boating in Georgian Bay -Summer 2017

We love taking the boat out into Georgian Bay and the 30,000 islands.  It's very beautiful, but also can be quite treacherous if the wind is up the waves are high and you must keep your eyes on the channel markers, charts and GPS - there are lots of rocky shoals lurking just under the water.

Our first stop was Picnic Island for Gas and  their yummy french fries for lunch.

Then off to Bone Island to dock for the night.

Heading North now toward Wreck Island

Our next anchorage stop was on the west side of Parry Island near Copegog Island

An incredibly beautiful place to go kayaking

Our next night was spent anchored at Killbear Provincial Park

PARRY SOUND

Two days of rain and stormy weather was forecast so, we were off to Big Sound Marina in Parry Sound for a couple of days.  There we could stock up on supplies, do laundry,  take long hot showers and even go out for dinner with our friends Ted and Kellyann who were also docked in Parry Sound.

The winds were still quite strong, but we had to make it back to Port Servern by the weekend.  We decided to take a chance on the bay and go as far as Henry's. Glad we did - we had a great run and then had Henry's to ourselves.  (The restaurant is no longer open -just the docks)

We left early Sunday and had a fantastic day ... sunny, warm and calm water

Beautiful day for a swim at Indian Harbour

We had a lovely warm extended summer this year, so we spent a beautiful September weekend out in the Bay.  We docked at Frying Pan Bay on Beausoleil Island

Boating Dogs - Dudley and Max

It was a hot day on the water, and water like glass.

We even hiked the Fairy Lake Trail on Beausoleil Island National Park.  It felt like summer - very hot, but the trees were starting to turn.
