Celebrity Silhouette Girls Cruise

To Celebrate Meghan's 30th Birthday, we did a girls cruise for March Break.

We booked the Celebrity Silhouette in Miami and travelled to San Juan, St Maarten and St Thomas.  The weather, company, ship, and ports were fantastic!

Our very nice inside cabin.  We were very comfortable here and didn't even miss the window.

We had a fun and relaxing time on the sea days

Silent Disco was a lot of fun - we all got our headset and danced away.

Then there was the full moon party

SAN JUAN

We just had a wander around the old town and walked over to the fort.  Still lots of damage from Maria and many stores still not open.

The "blue" cobblestones of San Juan.  These blue stones came over from Europe as the ballast for the trading ships

Barrachina - where the first Pina Colada was born.

Pina Coladas and Mofongos - yum!

St Thomas

Still no hotels are open on the Island.  They are really hurting because the economy relies heavily on the hotel tax paid by tourists.  They have lost this income as well as many buildings.

All buildings, palm trees and  a lot o the beach at Magan's Bay was washed away in the hurricane.  The cruise lines rebuilt the cafe and washrooms and replanted mature palm trees.  The beach looked "brand new".

Newly planted palm trees.

Charlotte Amalie - this area looks to have bounced back quickly.

St Maarten

In St. Maarten, we took a short ride on the water taxi over to Philipsburg.  We did some shopping and hung out at the beach.  Still lots of damage from Hurricane Maria.  No hotels are open on the island and we are one of the first cruise ships back.  Of course we had to help out the local economy, so we did purchase a few things.

Look at the colour of that water!

Some of the damage left behind from Hurricane Maria.  The majority of the shops were still closed and no hotels were open on the island.

Time to leave!
