Manzanillo Mexico
We had no plans for today, so we decided to walk into town and have a look around ... and of course do some shopping and soak up the local atmosphere.
Docking in Manzanillo at dawn |
Manzanillo town centre is a short walk from the pier |
Well guarded at the dock. |
After doing a little shopping on the pier, we headed into town |
Parking exclusively for dog customers :-) |
Many locals and tourists on the streets of Manzanillo |
Local boys wanting their picture taken |
Little parkettes on the stairs up the steep hillsides |
Docked right beside us was the Atlantis - a science ship that discovered the titanic. There is a mini sub inside the white midsection on deck. |
A really pretty town, next time we will try one of their famous beaches |
An incredible Manzanillo Sunset. |
Sea Days
Before getting to Cabo we had another Sea Day
On this cruise we had 7 sea days and 9 ports. We love sea days and are never bored.
This is why we love sea days:
- you get to sleep in
- you get to eat at non-busy times (or just about anytime you want)
- you can lounge around or read with gorgeous views of the sea
- lots of ship activities (trivia, swimming, lectures, movies, entertainment, casino, etc etc)
- have dessert, ice cream, or a snack every time you pass the lido
- hang out at or in the pools
- visit with friends on deck or in beautiful lounges
- stare at the sea and watch for flying fish and dolphins
- exercise (walk around the promenade deck, classes or the gym)
- you get to catch your breathe when you have a number of busy port days in a row
- or just be lazy ;-)
We anchored early in the morning and had to get tender tickets. After a very short wait in the Queen's lounge, our number was called and we were on our tender (a Eurodam lifeboat that took us to the marina).
After a short ride to shore, we wandered around Cabo for the morning doing some shopping, then made our way over to Medano Beach (seen on the right of the photo)
Walking around the Marina
Ha Ha -That fake fish sure looks real |

Medano Beach looking left at the Condos, Hotels and Restaurants along the miles of beach |
Looking right - back towards the marina. The water taxis were always beaching and bringing or taking people to the beach or on a tour to the Arch |
The Eurodam at Anchor (or more probably hovering on GPS) |
We had a good walk to get to the Beach, so we decided to take a water taxi back to the tender dock. |
On the water taxi |
Heading back to the Eurodam on the tender, we would see lots of sea lions jumping on the back of the boat looking for a handout of fish. The fishing boats did not slow down for these hitch-hikers - they just jumped on.
As the ship left port, we had great views of Land's End and the Cabo Arch
A closeup of Lovers Beach on the front and the very dangerous Divorce Beach at the top of photo. Water taxis were not dropping people at this beach due to rough water. |

Sail Away from Cabo |

One last look at Lands End - the southern most tip of the Baja Peninsula
And then out into the the choppy Pacific |

Last Full Day and lots of Goodbyes
Only one more sea day, and then San Diego and home. One more day of ship pampering and time to say goodby to all our new friends. Today was the only real wave action we felt on this cruise. The ocean was choppy and the outside temperature dropped (low 70's). We were very fortunate to have 2 weeks of very smooth sailing!
SAN DIEGO - April 24, 2017
Our Last Morning & A Very Quick Look at San Diego
Docked beside the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier |
Looking the other way, we see sailing ships, a submarine and a paddle wheeler. |
Ready to go home ;-) |
The airport was just across the harbour. It's nice and close, but unfortunate for us as we only got a short look at San Diego |
.
A very interesting tree in bloom |
A last view of the Eurodam as we enter the airport.
It was a great cruise! |
