Our Virgin Island Adventure 2022 Part 1- St Thomas

St Thomas USVI

About a year ago, we booked a trip with some good friends to charter a boat and cruise the islands of the BVI.  We were sure Covid would be finished by now, but it was not to be.

We had lots of postponements, a cancellation of the trip, then a rebooking of the trip, getting Covid tests and even a flight cancellation 7 hours before our departure.  We did a lot of scrambling to make this trip happen, and we were so glad we did!  All 6 of us had a wonderful time, but many times were wondering if it really happened.

3 Days in St Thomas           April 16-18,2022

We spent 2 nights on St Thomas before taking the ferry to the BVI.  Glad we had this breathing room to relax a bit  and not be stressed about keeping deadlines.  Flights were unreliable right now and ferry service is running with limited capacity and less runs.  This downtime was great to enjoy the tropical weather and wonder downtown Charlotte Amalie.

We spent 2 nights at the very charming Olga's Fancy

It was a beautiful location on the hillside, but did not have an elevator - I don't pack light and 68 stairs was a challenge, but definitely worth it.

The views from the room were beautiful

Coffee in reception every morning with the cats and chickens

The Hotel as located in French Town, a character filled area of Charlotte Amalie, and very near the ferry docks for easy walking distance to get to our transportation to Tortola BVI.

We had many walks around the waterfront in Frenchtown and to some very fabulous restaurants.

The Best Tacos and Margaritas!!

Beautiful tropical night and a full moon.

Easter Sunday was very quiet and was a good day for a walk around the Charlotte Amalie Waterfront - not a cruise ship in sight!

Emancipation Gardens.  The park was built to commemorate the freeing of the slaves which took place on July 3, 1848

Good Bye St Thomas, We're off to the BVI

Our trip continues with our charter in the BVI - link BVI CHARTER
