RHINE CRUISE - Part 4: Cruising the Netherlands

Rotterdam,  Amsterdam,  and Arnhem

Waking up in Holland, we kept an eye open for windmills as we were sailing by.

Cruising into Rotterdam Harbour

The cruise tour of the harbour was fascinating.  The port is huge!  And there are is so much innovative architecture to look at.  We had great weather once again for another highlight of this cruise.

A forest of Cranes - Rotterdam is the largest port in Europe
Huge drilling platform ships

Docked under the red Wilemsbrug Bridge and we are an easy walk to the centre pedestrian area of Rotterdam

Rotterdam was heavily bombed during the second world war.  The city was rebuild with modern buildings and  is now known for for its interesting and  innovative architecture.

3 interesting buildings - the Red stripes are really wonky and make the building look crooked

"Root" lights under the bridge

The new arched market building was very cool.   The lower levels is a market and the arch consists of condo units.

AMSTERDAM

We woke up in Amsterdam, tied up to our sister ship, the A-Rosa Brava.  We had to cross over the other ship to get to the dock.

We had a very busy day in Amsterdam and unfortunately we were only there for one day.  There is so much to see in this beautiful city.

We got off the ship early in the morning to take a tram to the Rijksmuseum.  We had to cross streets at rush hour and try to dodge the bicycles.  Wow! - bikes were everywhere and dangerous!

After lunch on the ship, we boarded our bus for the 40 minute bus ride out to Keukenhof Gardesn - a real highlight for us to see the tulips and beautiful displays
