GERMANY | Neuschwanstien Castle and Munich Sept. 17, 18 2013 (Danube pre-cruise)

Arrived in Munich very early today.  Took the shuttle into the old town where there was lots of construction getting ready for Oktoberfest ( putting up bleachers, barriers and banners). Had some lunch on Marienplatz, watched the glockenspiel and then wandered around the cobblestone streets and market.

Driving around Munich was beautiful.  Trees  and forest everywhere.  It was like the city was built in the middle if the forest.  We will be back for Oktoberfest in a couple of weeks (after the river cruise)

NEUSCHWANSTEIN CASTLE

A rainy cool morning today as we drove south from Munich to Neuschwanstein Castle.  By the time we got there the sun came out a bit.  Here are some photos of the castle and views from the castle.  Unfortunately, you can't take any photos inside.

Lunch in the castle- we got a window seat  :-)
......And this was the view

The only way down .... a 20 minute minute walk.  And inside the castle we took lots of stairs (200 steps). We got our exercise today!
